Services - Good Governance
In 2004, The Independent Commission for Good
Governance in Public Services published The Good Governance
Standard.
The Standard identified six core principles of
good governance:
 | Focusing on the organisation's purpose and
outcomes; |
 | Performing effectively in clearly defined
functions and roles; |
 | Promoting values for the whole organisation and
demonstrating the values of good governance through behaviour; |
 | Taking informed, transparent decisions and
managing risk; |
 | Developing the capacity and capability of the
governing body to be effective; |
 | Engaging stakeholders and making accountability
real. |
Developed primarily for the public sector, the
Standard also provides the basis for effective governance within
private and voluntary sector organisations.
Using the six core principles Talent Consulting
can help your organisation to implement arrangements for effective
governance by:
 | Carrying out an audit or review of your
existing governance arrangements; |
 | Helping your organisation develop effective
governance arrangements; |
 | Helping your organisation apply the principles
of good governance through the provision of appropriate training
and support; |
 | Helping you to develop the strategic focus that
will form a foundation for the first two principles. |
